Fertilizing and overseeding in Murfreesboro
Seasonal applications timed for Middle Tennessee grass, not a national schedule.
Timing is the whole game
Middle Tennessee sits in the turf transition zone. Most lawns on my route are tall fescue, some are bermuda, and the two want opposite things. UT Extension's calendar for this region is what I run on, not a bag label written for Ohio.
Fall is fescue's season
If your fescue thinned out over summer, the fix happens in fall. UT Extension puts the seeding window at late September into mid October, and fall feeding matters more than spring. I line up overseeding for my route in August. If you want on that list, say so early.
Spring is about prevention
Crabgrass germinates here by early April, per UT Extension. Once you can see it, the easy window is gone. Getting the timing right is most of the value, and it's on my calendar so it doesn't have to be on yours.
